Book Promotion Ideas That Really Work to Help Sell Your Fiction Books!

Book promotion ideas for fiction writers have been bouncing around my brain for quite a while now. The reason I'm very passionate about this subject is because it is one of the most difficult areas of fiction writing to master as an up and coming fiction author.

Between all of my own marketing research with my first novel and observations I've made of other writers, I am starting to break the marketing code that will put fiction book marketing for the unknown author on the map and enable writers just like you to have a chance at business success as a writer.

There are several book promotion ideas to consider, but the first thing you must do is start your book selling business! Changing your mindset to a more business mindset is the key to selling more books, especially with fiction writing. Fiction is a very aggressive market and is filled with lots of competition. The only thing breaking you apart from the competition is your unique ideas and styles that every writer possesses. Considering your writing as a business will organize everything about your writing and set you up for ultimate financial success.

Once you create your book selling business, you must immediately dive into your marketing plan, even while you are still in the process of writing. Most good writers start marketing their new fiction even before they write their first word. This is a great motivator and keeps you on track with your goals and deadlines. Announcing a release date for your book before it's ready is a great way to set the goal for yourself and hold you accountable for reaching this goal on time. It's never too early to start marketing your fiction to agents, publishers, friends, family, and potential readers within your target market.

Once you are published, whether you have self-published your work or had it professionally published, you must create a marketing plan for marketing a fiction book. A marketing plan is your marketing road map, setting a plan in place of how and where you are going to sell your fiction and at what stages you are going to apply leverage to make even more book sales. This is where your book promotion ideas will play the most toward your book selling business.

Here are some more book promotion ideas to get your business going from the start! One of the best places to begin the process of selling (yes I used the nasty word nobody wants to hear) your books is to make your own website for you and your fiction that naturally attracts customers to it. I don't mean settle for a one or two page website...you know, the ones that a publisher will give you after they publish your book. Those types of websites WILL NOT SELL YOUR BOOKS! They are a great place to send people to buy your book, but how on earth are you going to find all of the people to send there?

Finding customers is the biggest hurdle most writers must overcome in their writing career in order to make money from their writing.

You need to create a website that does more than just act as a place to send people to. You need a website that is going to naturally attract people to it (from all of the major search engines) and do most of the work for you so you don't have to! Once established and noticed by all of the major search engine providers, your fiction website will be working for you 24/7, giving you more time to write more books and to concentrate on more media options to get people to your website!

So, you must create your author website before even considering any of the other book promotion ideas. If you can write, this will come very natural to you. And you can start building your website well before your book is actually published to start building your list of potential buyers.

It takes dedication and determination to keep your business going once you start. Many publishers offer marketing assistance (for a price) that will help produce sales. A lot of these types of marketing require additional expenses you may not be able to afford right away. Even if you are professionally published or self-published, you will have to rely on your own book promotion ideas at the start in order to make enough money from your writing to even consider one of their marketing packages.

Never give up on your writing dreams because you are having trouble selling your book. It is probably not because of your writing; it's probably because you don't know the proper ways to market your fiction. So, begin your book selling business right now, even if you are just starting your book, and set yourself up for success as a fiction writer right away!
