Fiction Author Brochure For Self-Marketing Your Fiction!

A fiction author brochure is a major tool in your self-marketing efforts. It is nothing more than a interest gathering hand out used to help market your book to fiction readers.

A brochure can either be personally designed or professionally designed and represents you and your book in a way that makes people want to buy your new fiction novel. These simple handouts can make a lasting impression on potential customers you meet everyday or the ones you don't meet that find your brochure interesting.

A brochure can come in many shapes and sizes. It can be a simple one-fold brochure (a front page, two middle pages, and a back page) or a tri-fold (six total areas including a front page, 3 middle pages, a back page, and a mailing panel).

The first page or front page of your fiction author brochure should include a graphic or an illustration of your book's cover. This should go on the first page a potential customer will see when they pick up your brochure. This is the most important page of your brochure and is the deciding factor whether to continue reading the brochure or trashing it.

The middle of your brochure is where you add a detailed description of your book's topic or theme, your short author biography, and your very important contact information. If you are using a tri-fold brochure, the far right panel can be used as an order form so people can order your book directly from you as well as include where they can go to purchase your book such as an online bookstore or local book store.

Your story description or write up should be short and sweet, no more than five paragraphs, much like a back-cover description of a book you pick up in a store. When potential buyers read this description, they should be wanting to read more of the story.

The back page of your fiction author brochure is a great place to put your reasons to buy your book or your bullets. This is known as a sell sheet and lists specific reasons to buy your book such as benefits the reader receives from buying and reading your book. This is also a great place to put quotes from reviews. Depending on the type of book you are advertising, this is a free for all area that applies credibility to your publication.
